For the Love of Seasons

| November 8, 2008

Hard to believe just a few days ago the autumn colors were blazing, temperatures were in the 70s as I hike the canyons around Zion National Park with a small group of friends, and evenings found us enjoying dinner under the sky in tee shirts. Last week I was already shoveling snow in my driveway as icicles hung from the eaves.

Having grown up by the Mediterranean, followed by a few years in the San Francisco Bay Area, moving to a place with real seasons took some getting used to. Now that I have, though, I don’t know that I could ever do without these extremes of weather and color, the changing rhythms of nature, and the excitement of transitioning and waiting for what the next season has in store. Every few weeks something completely new and wonderful awaits and the same places look altogether different.

Hey Guy, I know this scene :-) I love your take on it. I’m still not convinced on mine, yet, haha.
