It’s evening. You drive into town looking for a good restaurant. You’re drawn to a quiet little place you’ve never been to before. The place smells of exotic spices. The dining area is tastefully decorated and the MaĆ®tre d’ seats you in a dark quiet corner and lights a candle lamp. The wine list and menu selections all look promising. You make a choice and wait in anticipation…

Will the food taste better if the car you drove in has a rear axle ratio of 3.42 or 3.73?

Yes, this does have to do with photography.

  1. Makes perfectly sense to me.
    Well said.
(Though I must admit I sometimes lust for a “better car”)

  2. The food will taste better if I walk slowly to the restaurant ;)

More important is who is at the table. Never eat with people you don’t like, if you can help it.

  4. My Jeep is 3.07 with 32″ tires, so the food always tastes pretty good. I think I know where you’re going with this.

  5. Laurent says:

Just as important, will the food taste better if you consume 2 pounds of matter or 1/2 pound?

    Hey Guy,

Depends on how badly your ankle is hurting.

    I couldn’t agree more….

  8. Jim says:

I’d go with the 3.73 and think of the increased torque I’ll have tomorrow going over the steep and impossible mountain roads in my four-wheel Jeep in the San Juan Mountains of southern Colorado.

  9. Dan Jurak says:

I wouldn’t be thinking about axle ratios.

I would be ordering take out so I could get back to the outdoors a quickly as possible for the last light of the day. :)

  10. Leann Greene says:

I haven’t a clue what my axle ratio is. I know that my vehicle isn’t a stylish or trendy model and it’s dented & scuffed up now but at least I don’t have a loan payment hanging over my head! So maybe my food would taste better to me :-)
