Putting my money where my mouth is, I searched my site for the few images I have posted that were closely inspired by similar works from other photographers and marked them as such, giving credit where credit is due.

    Hey Guy,

This image of Denali is hardly an original, but I’ve seen SO many great photos of that mountain and a tranquil reflection, how could I not want to make a few of my own?

    Cheers

I’ve been playing around with some twilight/night landscapes that were very much inspired by what I’ve learned from Floris Van Breugel’s digital blending methods. I’ve received a lot of accolades for these new works, which are being described as ‘groundbreaking’ and such. In my opinion, nothing I’ve done in any of these new images is something I’d consider truly ‘groundbreaking’. I took a lot of inspiration from Floris pushing the boundaries here and showing us the start of what is possible with these new techniques. Thanks, Floris.

Some of the first images of this type I seen published by William Neil. I now look at intimate landscape scenes with the “Light Impressions” view in mind.
I find the challenge of making images such as this not only fun, but each one is a surprise in it’s self.

Sorry for the long link, not sure how else to get it in here.

    Thanks,

Excellent idea Guy, here’s a recent one of mine that was strongly inspired by one of Miguel Lasa’s Polar Bear images:

ps – Thanks Marc! I’m really glad to see the technique working out so well for you.

Ok, something in my attempt to use the link code didn’t work… let’s try this.

Ok, here’s my most recent sand dunes shot, inspired by my friend Kioike Kiyomichi, from his awesome book Whispers from the Sands.

  9. Guy says:

Stan, you should publish your own dunes book. You have some incredible work from there.

I’ve got a lot of influences, and I won’t lie about it. I love looking at other works and seeing what it is that appeals to me and how I can integrate the techniques or style into my own.

    Michael Gordon influence
    Jack Dykinga influence
and, of course, a bit of Guy Tal influence :-)
