You said: "Let’s face it - nobody gets into nature photography hoping for untold riches or even the promise of financial security" to which Bill Jay has a response :

"The best way for photographers to become rich and famous is to go into another field."

One of the more pleasant surprises I've had since beginning landscape photography is how open, sharing, and generous other photographers are! I don't think I've yet run into anybody who wasn't happy to share locations, shooting tips and techniques, postprocessing methods, and even business pointers. And of course you are a greatly appreciated exemplar in this regard, Guy!

Beautifully written. One of the most satisfying things about photography is the ability to share your vision with others and hopefully spark a desire in the viewer to witness and explore.

I agree with you too. I love seeing places & people around the globe that I just would not see otherwise. And I love showing my work to non-divers so that people who dont scuba dive get a feeling of whats under our worlds wonderful oceans, its amazing some of the reactions people give :)

Many thanks for yet another thoughtful blog post
