David duChemin
I’m sure you know the feeling – sometimes just a random interaction with a person leaves you thinking “what a great guy.” This happened to me just recently with David duChemin.
I often seek inspiration in the works of talented photographers and found myself drawn to David’s work, initially out of admiration for his emotional, expressive, and wonderfully composed images, expert use of color and knack for capturing rare fleeting moments in the lives of his subjects.
Being an avid collector of expressive photography books, I emailed David asking for an autographed copy of his book Within The Frame. A quick exchange of email ensued and I must say – I’m as impressed with David’s personality and philosophy as I am with his photography.
Knowing he was an active Twitterer and being the skeptic that I am, I asked David for his take on the value of social media. Sure enough, he gave me the best answer I have heard to date and one that I sincerely take to heart. Rather than repeat his words, I would urge anyone interested to hear it from the man himself on Twitter or on his excellent blog.
While waiting for Within The Frame (which came in today!) I also had the pleasure of reviewing two of David’s e-books TEN and TEN MORE, also available on his site and also highly recommended.
So, thank you David, for the inspiration and for some great insight.

Now, all that said, I do feel kinda cheated coming to Guy Tal’s blog and not getting a new photo to soak up – where’s the goodies?
