First Light

Few experiences are as humbling as witnessing the sun rise over the Grand Canyon. Looking down thousands of feet and two billion years, surrounded by a silence as ancient and impressive as the view itself.

  1. Beautiful light and view Guy. I am so impressed by the Grand Canyon, would love to see it again as an adult. My parents say I was rather bored with it at 5.

  2. I love the Grand Canyon. You never get the same scene twice at sunrise. Was this taken at Mather Point?

  3. Wonderful shot, Guy. I so agree. I remember one trip where after 18 mi down a 4×4 road on the N.Rim, it felt like there wasn’t another person within a 10 mile radius. That’s when you can feel really ‘alone’, and at a place like GCNP, it also makes it extra special; timeless.

Gorgeous Guy. A trip to the Grand Canyon was what turned me on to photography. 3 weeks in the southwest and 30+ rolls of bad point and shoot photographs got me to pick up a real camera and learn more about it. I haven’t returned since but its on the list!

    Hey Guy,

    That’s a powerful feeling, isn’t it.

    Cheers

Wonderful image, Guy. Great composition & lighting – terrific shadow detail. I can only imagine how great a large print will look.
