The Deliberate Life
Nothing taken for granted. Venture to a frontier and make a life. Build your own house. Deal with the hardship. Reap the rewards. Know that you had truly lived. What few will ever know is that giving up the hardest of the hardships also means losing the most sublime of the rewards.

Very well said, and well taken, Guy. This is something we could all bookmark, or print and put over our desks to help remind us of what life is all about…
Cheers,
Greg
Beautifully written, and I agree. It’s easy to get too comfortable and not really live life.
If only we could all do this or if Eustice Conway would put it: we can all do this. His biography, The Last American man inspired me to even think about venturing into the wilderness, just to go out with nothing and make a life (one day). If you haven’t read it, I would recommend it, it’s beautiful. Taking for granted our conveniences never felt so wrong after a few days in the woods, I can’t even imagine how inspiring but difficult it would be for a lifetime. Anyway, I enjoy the blog and your work is something to mention as well!

Hello Guy,
Well said. Our drive for ‘creature comforts’ is driving the creature right out of us! I’m certainly no exception.
