Week 7 of 10 Winner: Julian Barkway
Our winning image this week is by photographer Julian Barkway. His winning image below was described by guest judge Michael Gordon as “haunting”.
For his winning entry, Julian will receive an original signed print, a free 1-year membership to Nature Photographer’s Network, and a $20 gift certificate from Outdoor Photo Gear. Julian will also be entered into the final round for a chance to win a signed copy of my book Exposures, an F-Stop backpack, and a $100 gift certificate towards lens rental from BorrowLenses.com.
Don’t miss Week 8′s theme: The Edge of Light, to be judged by pro photographer Gary Crabbe.
As before, here’s a random sampling of the runners-up:
Category: Contests

Congratulations to Julian! The image is one I’ve known for quite a while and still has a strong effect on me. It also shows you don’t need to be Eliot Porter in order to do large format wildlife photography (well – the ‘life’ in wildlife might be pushing things a little).
Lovely image, Julian. I’d not seen this before, but it’s a very evocative piece of work.
WOW that is awesome….some great runners up too….beautiful work!!!
A very powerful image, congratulations Julian!
Thanks, everyone. Much appreciated!
@Tim: the ‘wild’ in ‘wildlife’ might be pushing it, too… :^)
