Something to be aware of is that many photographers begin their journeys being inspired by photographs, yet over time allow their appreciation for them to diminish. If not careful, soon enough we begin to evaluate images on how and where they were made, rather than why. If you find yourself consistently disenchanted with the pure magic of photographic images and the stories they have to tell, take it as a warning sign and distance yourself from the gear talk and online banter for a while. Go somewhere beautiful and quiet, bring the oldest camera you own and some favorite photo books to study, and remind yourself why you became a photographer in the first place.
