This portfolio is something of a departure from my former styles. I touch on the reasons for this departure in this blog post, but suffice to say that they brought me to a creative crossroads. Although I continue to pursue subtle beauty in natural scenes, I needed something else—something more expressive, more abstract, perhaps less obvious, requiring closer and more prolonged engagement and flights of imagination to appreciate fully. To that end, I refrained from providing narratives to go with the images beyond just titling them. It is my hope that viewers consider spending some meditative time with these images and perhaps be moved to some abstract emotional response, rather than attempt to decipher them.
